On Wednesday 24 July, OUTWORK hosted its first “Lunch and Learn” session. We were joined by Deborah Davidson of Design and Be Social, who led a lively and interactive session on all aspects of social media. There were so many useful insights but the key messages I took away were:

· As a business, you don’t need to be on every platform. Choose the ones that work for your business

· Decide which platform (or platforms) to use by knowing where your customers are. There’s no point spending your time and effort on LinkedIn if your main customer base are on Instagram, for example

· Get to understand the social media analytics. You need to know what kinds of posts are effective to maximise your impact

· If Facebook is one of your social media platforms, explore the Groups as these are key to how Facebook works now

· Don’t underestimate the power of social media to boost your business

We’re very grateful to Deborah for leading this excellent session. If you’re interested in more insights from Deborah, you can find them on her blog. We’re now working on a broad programme of future events. If there are topics that you’d like us to consider, please drop us a line at hello@outwork.uk.com.
