We’ve been telling you a lot about our pop-out plans and business events over the last few weeks, but we haven’t told you much about our longer-term strategy to help local businesses grow and individuals flourish.

We’ve been working hard developing our exciting plans so we can really push on with our vision to create a vibrant, professional and busy workspace that up to now you might only see in cities and large towns. We know that local businesses, entrepreneurs and remote workers deserve access to the same kind of facilities that you would find in a WeWork, Office Group or Uncommon location in London.

These workspaces provide businesses with beautifully designed offices, meeting spaces and support services all available on a very flexible basis. If the business grows (or shrinks), it can easily and quickly move to a different-sized office. Businesses in these spaces don’t need to sign up to long office leases or to spend money on extra space because they occasionally need an extra room for a client meeting. They can enjoy the kind of facilities that most small businesses can only dream of with one simple bill each month covering everything.

This flexibility and freedom helps businesses concentrate on their core activity, allowing them to thrive. It’s an attractive option for businesses of all sizes, from sole traders to large corporates.

Together with shared desks and regular business and social events, we aim to create a community of real human connections. The space will create natural networking opportunities, helping businesses gain new clients, customers, find talent and identify collaboration opportunities that fast-track business growth.

We have found an amazing site and are working on our plans to regenerate it in partnership with the landowner. Currently two farmer’s barns set in 50 acres of beautiful countryside, we will strip down the barns and work from the frame up to create an inspiring space with meeting rooms, private offices, hot desks and a café/lounge/events space.

Each time we visit the site, we are so excited by its potential. We are really keen to re-purpose and re-use as much material as possible while creating a space that reflects our rural setting. There is plenty of opportunity to minimise our carbon footprint through renewable energy sources, too.

These are exciting times. We hope to reach out to many of the amazing people and businesses we have met so far to help us realise our vision. We believe in supporting and collaborating locally as much as we possibly can. OUTWORK would love to hear from you if you have a service that you think might help us. We need some fairly obvious services in the shape of fit-out experts, builders, designers and architects, but also experts in plants, catering, steel work and IT networking amongst others. If you have any recommendations, then we’re all ears.

We’ll be sharing more details of our journey with you soon and we’d love to talk to your more about it at one of our pop-out days or our OUTWORK social event on 5 December. You can find out more about these on our events page.
